Lil Wayne is finally reacting to the NFL not calling him to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans.
Earlier this week, the NFL announced that LA-based rapper Kendrick Lamar would be the featured Super Bowl halftime show performer.
Jay-Z, who co-produces the Super Bowl halftime show, explained his decision via a statement.
“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Jay-Z instantly recieved backlash for not including Lil Wayne in the New Orleans Super Bowl and a= Wayne is speaking out for the first time since the news dropped.
During an Instagram livestream, the New Orleans rapper said he was “hurt” by not being selected for the New Orleans Super Bowl halftime show.
“That hurt, it hurt a lot… I thought there was nothing better that spot, on that stage, on that platform, in my city… it broke me, and I’m just trying to put me back together.”
