Philadelphia Eagles superstar Saquon Barkley has no regrets over playing golf with sitting U.S. president Donald Trump over the weekend. Barkley, who has also played with former president Barack Obama, joined Trump at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey before the Eagles head to the White House this weekend to celebrate winning Super Bowl LIX.

The meeting and subsequent round of golf drew criticism from NFL fans who are none-too-fond of the controversial president. Philadelphia had previously considered skipping the White House visit before ultimately deciding to attend. Though Barkley made it clear that he does not care what fans think of his decision.

Saquon Barkley Claps Back At Fans Critical Of His Round Of Golf With Donald Trump

“lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,” he posted on X. “Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day 😂”

There are, of course, plenty of valid criticisms of that response. And fans weren’t exactly overly receptive to the answer. But as Barkley pointed out, he seems entirely unbothered by what fans think of his decision.

Former Philadelphia Daily News columnist Les Bowen stated that Barkley was “out of his depth” when dealing in the political spectrum. Whether that’s true or not on Barkley can say, but it’s clear he stirred up a ton of backlash that was probably easily avoidable.
