Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley set a franchise record for rushing on Sunday against the Rams. The ball carrier exploded for 255 yards and two scores, both of which went for 70 yards or more.

The Eagles would win the game, 37-20, to move to 9-2 on the year. Barkley was easily the team’s most valuable player!

Not only did he average nearly 10 yards a pop on the ground, but he added another 47 yards as a pass catcher to total over 300 yards from scrimmage. It was a career game!

Barkley set the Philadelphia franchise mark on his final carry, a 72-yard touchdown. It bested the previous record of 217 set by LeSean McCoy in 2013.

After scoring, Barkley tossed the game ball to an Eagles fan in the front row. He hadn’t yet realized that he’d broken the record! After finding out later on the sidelines, he experienced immediate regret.

How valuable that ball is, we don’t know. It certainly meant something to Saquon Barkley! Luckily, there might’ve been a happy end to the story.

Reddit user u/RudieCantFail says Barkley got his hands on the ball after the game. “I know the guy who got the ball. It was his 40th birthday. He traded it for a signed game ball and a photo. Dude is absolutely stoked,” a post reads on a thread showing the highlight clip and Barkley’s ensuing reaction. It all worked out (we hope).

Saquon Barkley continues to impress in Year 1 with the Eagles. He’s now closing in on the franchise’s all-time single season rushing mark, also held by Shady McCoy at 1,607 yards. Barkley sits at 1,392 yards through 11 games. He should have enough time to break it!
