Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner has had a tough season. A historically tough season, in fact, as he became the first player in NFL history to go 1-7 on two different teams in the same season.

After beginning the season with a 1-7 record with the New York Jets, Sauce Gardner was then traded to the Indianapolis Colts, who began the season with a 7-1 record and shipped TWO first round picks to the Jets for Gardner to help solidify their playoff prospects.

The Colts’ and Sauce’s seasons have been nothing but disastrous since, though, as the Colts lost six straight games and are missing the playoffs, while Gardner missed a month of the season with a calf injury. While he returned to the field on Sunday against the Jaguars, he was back to the bench due to an injury by the third quarter.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner posted and then deleted a tweet explaining why he’s not as much of a loser as everyone says he is

Clearly seeing the narrative about him on social media, Gardner tweeted and deleted a very loserish explanation of why he’s NOT a loser. This certainly tracks with Gardner’s past behavior on social media, which has included instances of embarrassing displays, such as parroting incel talking points, arguing with fans, and familiarly tweeting and deleting tone-deaf defenses of himself.

“i’ll go ahead and say the real since nobody else will because its…..me 😂🤷🏾‍♂️ i only have 32 targets 😕 there are 0 CB’s that only had 32 targets thru 600+ snaps. i only had 22 targets thru 7 games. I DO NOT GET TARGETED AS MUCH AS 99.8% OF OTHER CB’s in the league… and only like 50% of those got completed. 2 TD’s allowed (1 was a busted coverage.. both at the beginning of the year) ONLY 208 yards allowed all year… some WRs go for 100+ in one game.. am i missing something??
also… (in my opinion), having a CB that take away half the field is equivalent to having a nice QB.”

“As if trading two first round picks for a CORNER when you don’t have a QB wasn’t insane enough, the Colts did so for one of the biggest losers of all time. Fitting for the franchise of Andrew Luck,” one NFL fan replied.

“Having 32 targets ain’t all that when you only played like 67 downs this year,” another quipped.

Since being drafted out of the University of Cincinnati in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Gardner has a win-loss record of 21-46 and has yet to qualify for the playoffs.
