New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is one of the first defensive players in the NFL to get an up-close look at Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, and so far, he likes what he sees.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, August 8, New York Jets Pro Bowl corner Sauce Gardner said that Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels is “going to be nice” and that he told him as much during the joint practice between the teams, according to beat reporter for SNY.

Gardner, 23 years old, was drafted by the Jets out of the University of Cincinnati with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. In 2022, he was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and has been named to both the All-Pro First Team and the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons.

The Washington Commanders and their long-forlorn fanbase will certainly be hoping that Gardner is right about Daniels’ prospects as an NFL quarterback as the team has been in desperate need for a savior of the franchise.

During his senior Heisman Trophy winning season at Louisiana State University, Daniels played in 12 games and completed 72% of his passes for 40 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He also carried the ball 135 times for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdwns.
