While the New York Jets have looked toast since the first week of the season, it all officially came crashing down on Sunday with a 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, leading to some Jets players lashing out at fans and reporters on social media.

Certainly no stranger to questionable social media posts, cornerback Sauce Gardner tweeted and deleted a response to criticism from ESPN’s Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini.

“Yup I’m 100% sure me missing that tackle at the beginning of the 2nd quarter for a gain of 17 yards was the costliest miss and that is in fact what lost us the game,” Gardner said in response to Cimini’s assessment of the game.

Gardner also tweeted and deleted a similar rebuke of criticism after the Jets lost to the New England Patriots in October.

Gardner wasn’t the only member of the Jets to lash out on social media, as linebacker Quincy Williams also posted a whiny message to the fans on social media.

“Y’all better remember this football s— is just my job. Find y’all someone else to play with before you get found,” Williams wrote on his Instagram story.

With the loss to the Cardinals, in which the Aaron Rodgers-led offense did not score a single touchdown, the Jets record fell to 3-7, putting a stake in the heart that was their hopes of ending a 13-year-long playoff drought, the longest in the four major American sports leagues.

Now that the Jets’ season is all but officially over, it’ll be interesting to watch the behavior of Rodgers, who was already being criticized for his leadership before the team fell apart.
