For as beloved as the NFL’s RedZone channel is, if there was one complaint about the network, it was that the 4 o’clock EST window of matchups would sometimes feel thin, as there would be Sundays where only two or three games were being played.

NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson revealed this week, however, that from now on there will primarily be at least three games in the late window.

“You’ll be the first audience I’m telling this to. We had a Zoom with all the NFL executives in the offseason — getting us ready for the regular season. And I was told that the schedule makers particularly brought up NFL RedZone this year and said, ‘We cannot have any two-game late windows’…the lowest number we’ll have in the late window is three,” Hanson told New York City radio station WFAN on Tuesday, August 27.

“And there are many weeks that have four games or five games in the late window. So they did us a solid there because a two-game late window for RedZone purposes is death.”

NFL RedZone will return on Sunday, September 8 with the following matchups: Panthers vs. Saints, Vikings vs. Giants, Patriots vs. Bengals, Steelers vs. Falcons, Texans vs. Colts, Cardinals vs. Bills, Titans vs. Bears, Jaguars vs. Dolphins, Broncos vs. Seahawks, Raiders vs. Chargers, Cowboys vs. Browns, and Commanders vs. Bucs.

The 2024 NFL season will kick off three days prior with a Thursday Night Football matchup between the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Then, on Friday, September 6, the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing off against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil.

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season will wrap up with a Sunday Night Football tilt between the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions, followed by a Monday Night Football game that features the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
