World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler Reminds Everyone That Golf Is Impossible With Horrific Shot

There is no human being on the planet right now who is better at golf than world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. But golf, more so than any other sport, will always humble you, no matter how good you are.

Scheffler was reminded of that the hard way during Saturday’s third round of the PGA Tour Travelers Championship. He entered the weekend at 9-under, tied for the lead with Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas. But Scheffler’s day quickly unravelled with a shocking triple bogey on the opening hole, highlighted by maybe the worst bunker shot you will ever see him hit.

Scottie Scheffler Has No Good, Very Bad Start To Travelers Championship 3rd Round

The reigning Masters champion pulled his tee shot into the left rough. Then his second shot came up short in a greenside bunker. Typically, this would be an easy shot for Scheffler. But not this time around. He caught the ball thin, flying it way over the green before chipping his third shot short of the green, causing it to roll back into the rough. He went on to make a 7 on the Par 4 hole. A double bogey on the Par 3 8th later in the day all but ended Scheffler’s hopes of winning without a miraculous final round.

But Scheffler wasn’t the only superstar to struggle on Saturday.

Thomas shot an even-par front nine to keep him in contention. But his round came apart on the Par 5, 13th hole when he drove the ball out of bounds and then proceeded to take three chips from the rough left of the green to get the ball onto the putting surface. He eventually walked away with a quadruple bogey 9 on the hole.

So next time you’re out on the course and having a rough day, remember that the game of golf often makes the best players in the world look completely and totally helpless.
