PGA star Scottie Scheffler may have won the Players Championship on Sunday, but it was his grandmother who stole the spotlight. The golfer’s granny went viral on the final day of play.
Scheffler was impressive throughout the tournament, dominating the field through the four-day event. He finished the weekend at 17 shots under par to beat the next closest competitor by five strokes. That included a three-under on Sunday as he put a bow on the massive win.
All along the way, Scheffler’s grandmother, Mary, was there in support.
In fact, she walked the entire course as she followed her grandson throughout his historic win. The Texas alum became just the third ever PGA player to reign as both the Players and Masters champion simultaneously. The other two? Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
Pretty good company.
Mary was spotted strolling up and down the links at TPC Sawgrass Sunday, causing many around the golf world to post reactions online.

Someone else wrote, “Wow! She’s a champion! Big ups Grandma Scheffler!” It’s certainly an impressive feat at 88 years of age.
