Scottie Scheffler has released a statement after having charges dropped following a bizarre arrest during the PGA Championship. The golfer responded in true Scottie fashion, taking into account the perspectives of both sides in what he drummed up as an “unfortunate misunderstanding.”

The latest news all but buttons up the unexpected incident, with both sides agreeing to move on without pursuing legal action.

A recap of the morning begins at the scene of a fatal accident outside of Valhalla Golf Club in which someone was struck by a PGA Championship shuttle. Attempting to move around the traffic to make his way onto the venue grounds, Scheffler’s car is seen skirting by police to enter club gates.

Just before making that entry, an officer is spotted tracking the vehicle down, beating on the side of the car, and pulling the golfer out of the front seat.

Scheffler was later sent to the station where he remained for a few hours before being released with a quartet of charges.

There were two sides of the story after the arrest, as well as a bevy of recently released video footage from the event. Scottie Scheffler seemed baffled by the detainment, saying that he didn’t realize the policeman stopping his car was actually law enforcement.

An arresting officer, meanwhile, said that he was injured at the scene due to Scheffler’s failure to stop.

After discussion, the two sides came to an agreement, dropping all charges and washing their hands clean of the situation. After the fact, Scottie Scheffler posted a statement.

He seemed calm and collected in that reply, happy to put the incident in the past. His attorney – not so much!

Scottie Scheffler’s attorney erupted on a reporter while discussing the dropped charges.

“Here’s what happened,” the attorney shouted at a media member questioning Scheffler’s actions. “He was being interrogated after the most stressful situation of his life. The officer is actually asking him leading questions and trying to get him to agree with him. That’s why you don’t talk to police!”

The response offered a stark contrast to Scottie Scheffler’s statement, showing how truly frustrating the situation was for everyone in his camp.
