Scottie Scheffler continued his dominance in incredible 2024 season by picking up a win at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut. He took down Tom Kim in a playoff to secure that victory, which was his sixth of the year.

It was a come-from-behind effort this weekend as Kim led heading into Sunday’s action. One shot back, Scheffler was able to overcome that slim deficit to walk away victorious yet again.

It didn’t come without drama, though!

As the duo battled on the 18th green, fireworks were sparked both on and off the course. Kim nearly holed an eagle, which would’ve given him the win, only to see the shot miss by literal inches.

With ice in his veins, he later sank a birdie putt to force a playoff. Making it all the more impressive, that decisive putt was made following a brief break in the action due to a group of protestors who stormed onto the green during a critical moment.

They couldn’t shake Kim’s confidence!

Unfortunately for Kim, he was unable to best Scheffler in that playoff, leading to a runner-up finish.

That outcome was great for the World’s No. 1 player, who’s only added to his record-setting earnings total. It was also much appreciated by one Tom Kim hater.

Scottie Scheffler saved that Tom Kim hater from a $75K disaster.

The petty sports bettor singled Kim out, placing just under $74,000 on him NOT winning the Travelers Championship. That gambler was sweating as the final round played out.

The bet hit when Scheffler won in the playoff, allowing the gambler to let out a huge sigh of relief.

Most would argue that the risk far outweighed the reward in this instance as the win banked $1,250 thanks to -5900 odds – just pennies compared to the money wagered.

Then again, a win is a win – no matter how close you come to losing $75K!
