After escaping Week 1 with a relatively miraculous victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, the Chicago Bears got a wake-up call on Sunday night during their loss to the Houston Texans.
More concerning than losing to the Texans was the way rookie quarterback Caleb Williams played, as the Heisman Trophy winner looked overwhelmed while completing 23 of 37 passes for 174 yards and two interceptions, in addition to being sacked 7 times.
Through the first two games of his NFL career, Williams has completed 56.1% of his passes for 267, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Even though he’s a rookie, given the weapons Williams has at his disposal — wide receivers such as Keenan Allen (who got hurt in Week 1), DJ Moore, and Rome Odunze — it’s fair for fans to have expected to see a little bit more from him in these early stages of the 2024/25 NFL season.
While Bears fans have long been skeptical of head coach Matt Eberflus ever since he was hired in 2022, new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron certainly hasn’t helped the case of the coaching staff, as a video of him literally shaking while calling a play against the Texans on Sunday night went viral during the game.

“I’m starting to see why the Seahawks just let Shane Waldron walk,” said a viral tweet from a Chicago sports X/Twitter account that racked up over 300,00 views.
“I officially hate Shane Waldron. Took 5.5 quarters. Get him outta here,” another popular post read.
“So far, through six quarters, I’m kinda understanding why Jaxon Smith-Njigba didn’t have many nice things to say about Shane Waldron. I get needing time to understand your personnel, but this plan doesn’t make any f—— sense,” a frustrated Bears fan posted.
Following their loss on the road to the Texans, the Bears have a more winnable matchup in Week 3 when they travel to Indianapolis to take on the 0-2 Colts.
