Shaq believes he knows how to grow the WNBA.
This week, Shaq appeared on Angel Reese’s podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including the WNBA, Caitlin Clark, and Reese’s game.
During the podcast, Shaq told Reese that he believes the WNBA should lower the rim so women can dunk because he believes watching a “pretty girl dunk” will attract viewers.
Shaq: I have a solution, but no one is going to like it. In women’s volleyball, the net is lowered just a little bit; I’m not saying to lower it to 9 feet or nothing, just 9^9 or something.
Angel Reese: Just so we can dunk? No. I hate when men say that.
Shaq: “The only thing that’s missing is the dunk… I like how you all are starting to get into fashion, a pretty girl dunking. I’m watching that all day.”
Shaq tells Angel Reese that, unless certain players are playing, watching a WNBA game is like watching a high school game, and says the WNBA needs to lower the hoop so women can dunk, and then they will get paid like NBA players.

This isn’t the first time Shaq has suggested women should lower the rim.
A few years ago, Shaq got into a similar debate with Candace Parker on TNT.
Shaq: “Like if we just lower the rim so you could dunk like we dunk that it’ll give you more oomph that you already have. because listen you guys are doing the stepbacks, the pullbacks, ya’ll are doing everything we’re doing, I don’t see a lot of people going up with two hands.”
Candace Parker: “No, it’s coming I guarantee my next child will be drop step dunking.”
