Last week, Robert Griffin III found himself in some hot water for a social media post he wrote. The post was supposed to be in defense of WNBA star Angel Reese, but something definitely got lost in the translation and it wasn’t taken that way by many.

One of those people who did not take it well was Shaquille O’Neal. And he made that very clear during his an appearance the Off the Record podcast with Bailey Jackson and Lachelle Smith.

“Speaking of man, RGIII tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I’m going to punch you in your f—— face,” Shaquille O’Neal warned. “Okay? It’s enough. Like, I don’t usually do stuff like this, but just stop it, bro. You got your job. You got your podcast. Leave my Angel Reese alone.

“I’m the one calling her and telling her not to respond. F—— stop it. That’s the last time. Okay? Thank you.”

What is this beef about anyway?

Shaquille O’Neal was referring to Robert Griffin III re-posting a Photoshopped picture of the new NBA 2K26 WNBA Edition depicting a monkey on the cover instead of Angel Reese with a message of support as some form of defending her against racism. Griffin also claimed in the same post that the Chicago Sky forward’s “inner circle” told him that she does indeed hate Caitlin Clark, stirring that pot. Both Angel Reese and her mother responded by saying Griffin was full of it.

“Like first of all, let them girls, like leave them alone. It’s a shame. It’s a shame that all the stuff you did in your life, you’re gonna be remembered for your podcast. You’re gonna be remembered for your podcast. That should tell you you’re not that f—— great. I don’t want to be remembered for Shaq’s Big Podcast. I do not. Like, leave those girls alone. You already spoke on it. Let it go. So what? He hates her. So f—— what. I hate you now for messing with her. Now what? Say something about me.”

Robert Griffin III hasn’t directly responded to Shaquille O’Neal’s threat to punch him in the face. So far all he has written on Tuesday is: “Trust God’s plan for your life. You don’t have to understand the path to walk it. Keep the faith and keep going.”
