Shedeur Sanders hurled the Colorado offensive line under the bus after Saturday’s loss to Nebraska and Johnny Manziel does not expect the comments to serve him well in the future. He issued a warning to the highly-scrutinized quarterback about his abrasive, disrespectful attitude that often seems to be at the center of conversation.

Unfortunately, the former Heisman Trophy winner’s criticism will likely fall on deaf ears.

Shedeur continues to be one of the biggest brands in college football by nature of the Sanders name. And to his credit, there have been flashes of elite talent throughout his career. It is very possible that he could end up being the first signal-caller selected in the upcoming NFL Draft.

On-field talent aside, Sanders’ biggest red flag is how he approaches the locker room. Accountability and humility lack.

His most recent comments about his offensive line is yet another example. Sanders put a lot of blame on the protection. They did not give him enough time in the pocket to successfully execute the game plan.

Shedeur Sanders shot inside the tent.

It was everybody else’s fault, not his own.

Even if there is/was some truth to what Sanders said, in no circumstance should a quarterback blame the offensive line on a public platform. Especially when he often holds onto the ball too long.

Manziel is very familiar with the spotlight. His entire college football career was played under a high-intensity microscope and his personal life was the most talked about topic in sports for a large chunk of the 2010s.

Manziel discussed Sanders’ comments during an interview with Ben Mendelowitz of Action Network. He would never put his offensive line on blast in such a discourteous manner.

Not only was Johnny Manziel baffled by Shedeur Sanders’ approach to the loss, he noted multiple self-inflicted wounds that had nothing to do with the protection.

If I’m looking at that game, I know early on in the game, I know one thing you don’t do from a quarterback perspective is throw a hitch route, late and on the inside for a pick-six.

There’s a lot of blame there in that throw that Shedeur made, that turned into a pick-six early in the game. That really got things started for Nebraska.

Colorado has not provided its offensive line with an opportunity to respond to its quarterback’s criticism. They will likely keep their mouths shut on the topic.

However, if Manziel was part of that group, he would be a lot less willing to help Sanders out!
