Deion Sanders threatened to “pull an Eli” if he does not approve of the NFL team that wants to draft Shedeur Sanders. The Cleveland Browns reportedly do not care what he thinks.
They are prepared to draft whomever they want, regardless of his father’s opinion on the organization.
As things currently stand, Cleveland is slated to pick behind Tennessee. The Titans are likely going to select a quarterback first overall, although President of Football Operations Chad Brinker recently sparked speculation that Will Levis could return as the incumbent starter. That would mean they are going to draft Travis Hunter at No. 1. We’ll see.
Either way, the Browns are on the clock at No. 2. They definitely need an edge rusher, offensive tackle, wide receiver and running back.
They also need a quarterback. Deshaun Watson retore his Achilles tendon earlier this month and could save the organization $92 million. A timeline for his return is unclear if he can even back on the field at all. We don’t know for sure but it seems like he won’t play in 2025, at the very least.
This is where things could get interesting!
According to Jared Mueller of Dawgs By Nature, Cleveland plans to add a pair of quarterback during the offseason— one veteran, one rookie. The Browns could wait to draft a guy like Jaxson Dart, Kyle McCord, Dillon Gabriel or Kurtis Rourke in the later rounds or they use their first-round pick to draft whichever guy the Titans don’t take.
That could be Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward. (Maybe Jalen Milroe??) If it is the former Colorado and Jackson State quarterback, his father may not approve. Deion Sanders has been very vocal about his intention to essentially block teams he does not like from drafting his son. Could Shedeur, like Eli Manning in 2004, simply refuse to play for Cleveland?
That hypothetical apparently will not stop the organization from moving forward.
As of now, what Deion Sanders wants for his son does not play a role in [the Browns’] evaluation nor do they care.

If Shedeur Sanders emerges as the top target for the Cleveland Browns over the next three months, the Cleveland Browns are going to draft Shedeur Sanders. They are willing to call Deion’s bluff and see what happens!
