The NFL expects to have plenty of representation at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles if the league gets its way. One soon-to-be pro player doesn’t intend to be a part of the action.

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders removed his name from consideration while speaking on his 2Legendary podcast this week. He wants no part of Olympic glory!

The passer spoke on the topic with his brother Tuesday.

“No,” he said when asked about playing flag football at the Olympics four years from now. “Cause, bruh, you could get injured.”

The fear of injury is a legitimate one considering the quarterback will likely be nearing the end of his rookie contract in the summer of ’28.

Projected by many to be a first-round pick next April, his first chance at a major payday could come in that second contract.

It’s worth noting that Shedeur Sanders’ name hasn’t been linked to any Olympic speculation. Still, it’s an interesting scenario to consider for a number of soon-to-be rookies.

The NFL has made waves of late surrounding the idea of creating an Olympic Super Team comprised of professional stars. That idea has been met with criticism from flag football players.

Darrell Doucette, a pro flag football quarterback, doesn’t believe NFL players should be given roster spots based on name alone. He says they need to earn it!

A few NFL players have responded to that criticism, including Chiefs star passer Patrick Mahomes and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson.

The debate will continue to rage on for the time being, but it seems the league will do all it can to be involved. Heck, it already announced its intended future presence in a viral video starring Eagles signal caller Jalen Hurts earlier this offseason.

As for Shedeur Sanders, we won’t expect to see the quarterback on the sidelines when those rosters are set.
