The Colorado Buffaloes open up the 2024 college football season with a matchup against North Dakota State. QB Shedeur Sanders is ready to take the field.

He previewed the meeting with the Bison on his 2Legendary podcast this week, as well as the “boring” leadup to the primetime showdown.

“Of course,” he said when asked if he’s looking forward to the opener.

“That’s a tough team to go against in Week 1, but we’ve just gotta do what we gotta do to win. I’ll do whatever it takes to win. As a team, I feel like we’re in the right spot. We’re focused…

“We’re just ready to play against a new opponent [rather] than keep playing against those guys in practice because that’s getting very boring.”

That’s a feeling that many share when training camps nears its end.

The passer feels good about his team’s mindset entering the Week 1 contest against an NDSU squad that’s been known to knock off the big boys.

Since 2006, the Bison are 9-4 against FBS competition, which included a six-game win streak that was snapped by Arizona in 2022. Three of those losses have come by three points or less, with many of their wins coming over opponents from the Big 10 and Big XII.

They’re doing all they can to pull off another upset, including forking out cash to even the playing field in Folsom Field.

North Dakota State won’t sneak up on Colorado judging by Shedeur Sanders’ comments. His father, head coach Deion Sanders, echoed those sentiments earlier this week.

“They are a winning tradition of a school that plays football… They’re detailed. They’re not gonna beat themselves.”

Despite the Bison’s history of success, they’ll enter as two-score road underdogs in Boulder. The Buffs will look to avoid being added to the list of FBS victims.

Sanders is both confident and excited about the game to come. The two foes will meet Thursday night at 8pm ET with the game being aired on ESPN.
