The Colorado football team fell to conference rival Kansas on Saturday in what was a frustrating night for the Buffaloes’ offense. The Jayhawks doubled up the Buffs in first downs and time of possession while outgaining their opposition by more than 200 yards.

It was pure dominance by Kansas, who did its best to get under the skin of Colorado’s stars. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was a popular target. The Jayhawks harassed the signal caller throughout the contest, and tensions boiled over in the second half of play!

Sanders threw three touchdowns, two of which went to Travis Hunter, while tallying 266 yards through the air. He also led the team in rushing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

The passer was sacked just once, but he was hit on a number of different occasions. Some of those instances were viewed as dirty on, though there were few penalties handed out.

Late in the game with Colorado looking to mount a comeback, Sanders was sacked by the Kansas defense. A number of defenders surrounded the quarterback as he attempted to make his way to his feet. Some extracurricular activity certainly took place. It sparked a major reaction!

Shedeur Sanders shoved a referee, maybe believing not enough was being done to protect him on the field. No flag was thrown but calls for an ejection and suspension soon followed.

“Look, I get why he’s upset,” said FOX officiating analyst Mike Pereira. “People are almost climbing over him while he was down, but officials can use their hands all they want to keep order. You cannot come back as a player and push an official… He’s lucky that he wasn’t ejected from the game.”

Social media erupted after the fact. Cries for Shedeur Sanders to be sidelined for his final regular season game at Colorado rained down. This week, the Big 12 reportedly decided on its ruling.

There were a few articles this weekend about Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders facing a possible suspension for shoving a ref Saturday vs. Kansas. There will be no suspension. Talked to a Big 12 source who told me that’s being “handled internally with CU.”

Brian Howell of BuffZone says he’s spoken to a Big 12 source. There will be no suspension handed down, at least not at the conference level. Punishment will be handled internally. Expect to see Shedeur Sanders on the field for the season finale.
