The Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes is starting to get out of hand.
Earlier this week it was reported by MLB network’s Jon Morosi that Ohtani would be announcing where he would play in the next coming days and that the Blue Jays were becoming a viable option for him.
“In the last week since his visit to Dunedin, Fla. on Monday, momentum has built for the Blue Jays…”
"In the last several days, the Jays have certainly improved their standing [on Shohei Ohtani]"

On Friday afternoon, Morosi reported that Ohtani was on his way to Toronto, which shook MLB fans.
Sources: Shohei Ohtani is en route to Toronto today.
A representative of his agency, CAA, would not comment when asked about Ohtani’s travel plans.
At this hour, Ohtani does not have a signed agreement with any @MLB team. @MLBNetwork

After Morosi’s tweet went viral, Bob Nightingale reported that Ohtani was not in Toronto but at home in Southern California.

Update: Ohtani was not in the plane in question.
Our CBC photographer Evan Mitsui is messaging me from Pearson Airport right now.
He confirms new reports that Ohtani was NOT on the private jet.
It was in fact carrying Canadian businessman Robert Herjavec and his family.
