Simone Biles is back from Paris and back on the gridiron to support her husband, Jonathan Owens. However, her outfit on Saturday was accidentally problematic for the dynamics of the NFL.
The Bears need to figure it out ASAP!
Owens, who skipped the early portion of training camp on an excused absence to watch Biles rack up three gold medals and a silver at the Olympics, signed with Chicago during the offseason. Although the 5-foot-11, 210-pound safety was not a starter during the early portion of his career, he recorded 209 tackles in each of the last two seasons while playing in all 34 games.
His exact role for 2024 is unclear but Owens is listed as the second-string safety on the depth chart. He spent his first year with the Cardinals, three years with Texans and last year with the Packers after going undrafted out of Missouri Western.
Owens’ lone year with Green Bay created the issue for Biles on Saturday. She wanted to support him so she wore a jacket with his image plastered all over. It’s really cool!
The only problem was the jersey he is wearing in the photos is from 2023, which didn’t go over well.
Biles said all of the right things!
But she wore the wrong thing— because the Packers and the Bears are heated divisional rivals. Chicago hates Green Bay. Green Bay hates Chicago.
The odds that Biles knew about the rivalry before wearing a jacket in support of her husband are slim. She probably was not aware of the ripple effect she was about to create! It was an innocent mistake.
Still, though, to wear Packers gear on the sideline of a Bears game is a cardinal sin. Now that she knows the deal, Simone Biles cannot make this mistake again and Chicago needs to help her out.
Jonathan Owens has not been with the team long enough to make a similar jacket, but surely the team can dress out the greatest gymnast of all-time in proper game day attire!
