The Kansas Jayhawks previewed their 2019-20 basketball team at ‘Late Night In The Phog’ on Friday night. It’s a good opportunity for fans to get a first-hand look at what’s to come for the upcoming season and an event you can bring the family to. Ya know, good, family-friendly Friday night fun in Kansas.
Well, Kansas decided to bring in Snoop Dogg for a performance and he did Snoop Dogg things.
Snoop brought out some stripper poles and dancers, some money guns which he shot into the crowd and the songs blaring over the speakers weren’t of the clean variety. Yep, that sounds about right.

It sounds as if there was a failure to communicate here. Also, Snoop is going to do what Snoop wants, especially on a college campus.
Following the performance, Kansas’ director of athletics Jeff Long offered an apology to anyone that was offended. The apology came just a few hours after Kansas posted these photos with Snoop and Long posted up together.

I guess Long forgot to ask him what his plans were for the performance or at the very least make sure there is no cursing in the songs.
Kansas head coach Bill Self was asked about what went on in the performance as well.
“That’s not the direction that anybody at our school would want that to go, at all. Regardless of the entertainment that it provided many. It was still not the right way to provide entertainment.”

It would have been an all-time move if Self just flat-out said ‘I think most people enjoyed it’ and left it at that.
Above all else, this isn’t the best look for Kansas as just last month it was hit with charges with a lack of institutional control with Self being allegedly tied to Adidas, and not in the ‘hey we need some new shoes this year’ kind of way.

The notice they received from the NCAA includes three Level 1 violations tied primarily to recruiting.
