The Jordan Seaton transfer portal saga should soon come to a close. One surprise program is reportedly getting a last-minute look.
That is, if the weather allows. Maryland is the school receiving interest on Seaton’s end. A snowstorm could threaten the Terps’ chances of landing his signature.
Seaton is one of the most highly rated prospects on the transfer market. The offensive lineman opted to hop in the portal after two years at Colorado.
With the Buffs, he earned All-America honors as a freshman. He was named All-Big 12 as a sophomore. Now, he seeks a new home.
Jordan Seaton’s recruitment has been dramatic.
He’s taken visits to Miami, Mississippi State, and LSU. He’s also been visited by Oregon coach Dan Lanning. To this point, he remains uncommitted.
The two most notable players in the race appear to be the Tigers and Ducks. Seaton spent the majority of last weekend in Baton Rouge with Lane Kiffin.
LSU pushed hard to get his commitment. They convinced him to stay an extra day on campus, which prevented him from making a previously scheduled visit to Oregon.
That did not stop Lanning from flying into Atlanta to get face time the following week.

What’s taking so long?
Jordan Seaton is weighing all of his options. With that being said, a decision must soon be made due to enrollment timelines for spring semesters.
Miami and LSU close enrollment in late January. Oregon is on the quarters system, so they have a bit more flexibility.
It is believed by some in Baton Rouge that the lineman is leaning towards the Tigers. His uncle and recruitment manger, however, is pushing for the Ducks.
Split on the decision, he’s yet to announce a commitment. And now, he’s introduced a new potential landing spot into the mix.
Seaton is from Washington, DC. He played at St. John’s College High School for three seasons before leaving for IMG Academy in Florida.
In his initial recruitment, the Terrapins convinced the lineman to take a last-second visit to campus in hopes of landing his signature. It didn’t work out the first go-round. Will second time be the charm?
The vibe is that Maryland is making a serious play for him. Whether that means the offer will be high enough to get him, we’ll see. But I’m told Jim Smith and the brass are all-in on trying to add the former five-star. So this is a chance to back up his comment this fall that Maryland “won’t be outbid” for players it wants.
What that means in terms of how much money they can offer, I don’t know. Seaton could command between $3-to-$4 million for next season, and Maryland hasn’t done those kind of monstrous deals. But Locksley has a longstanding close relationship with Seaton.
Jordan Seaton has a relationship with head coach Mike Locksley. He knows players in the area and on the team. It could be a perfect fit should he want to return home to finish out his career.
Money is not expected to be an issue. Weather could.
A snowstorm is set to hit the East Coast.
Washington, DC expects 5-10 inches this weekend. That could provide potential travel issues.
We saw a similar storm impact the Houston Texans last week in the NFL Playoffs. Flying could be difficult. Driving, too, with roads potentially icy.
Maryland does have a contingency plan in place, though details of that backup option are unclear.
For the Terps, it could be a race against time for Jordan Seaton. Much like Miami and LSU, the deadline for enrollment is approaching quickly. Second semester starts on Monday. The school needs an answer.
If the lineman is unable to visit with coaches, their recruiting efforts could be thwarted. Maryland hopes that won’t be the case as they look to steal Seaton at the 11th hour.
