The union that represents the Miami-Dade police department has released a statement about Tyreek Hill’s recent arrest that paints the star Miami Dolphins wide receiver as “uncooperative.”

According to the statement, which was released on Monday, Tyreek Hill was detained after he was “immediately not cooperative” with the police officer who stopped him for reckless driving.

Hill, 30 years old, was ultimately given citations for careless driving and a seat belt violation. At this time, the police have not released the body camera footage of the incident

Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. Daniels also released a statement there will be an internal investigation “of all details surrounding the incident.”

“Before the Dolphins game yesterday, an incident occurred where Tyreek Hill was placed in handcuffs before being released. First, to be clear, at no time was he ever under arrest. He was briefly detained for officer safety, after driving in a manner in which he was putting himself and others in great danger,” Steadman Stahl, the president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, said in a statement.

“Upon being stopped, Mr. Hill was not immediately cooperative with the officers on scene who, pursuant to policy and for their immediate safety, placed Mr. Hill in handcuffs. Mr. Hill, still uncooperative, refused to sit on the ground and was therefore redirected to the ground. Once the situation was sorted out within a few minutes, Mr. Hill was issued two traffic citations and was free to leave.”

Speaking to the media prior to the Dolphins-Jaguars game, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said that all options, including potential litigation, are being considered by Hill.

Despite the incident, Hill still suited up for the Dolphins and was his usual dominant self as he caught 7 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in their 20-17 Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After scoring his touchdown, Hill celebrated by placing his hands behind his back as if he was being arrested while Waddle pretended put to handcuffs on his wrist.
