Steph Curry cashed in this offseason, landing a one-year extension from the Golden State Warriors that will keep him in the Bay through 2026-27.

That deal is reported to be worth $62.6 million, an astronomical amount when compared to another local professional franchise.

Much has been made of the Oakland A’s payroll this season, which sits at $62.5 million for the 2023-24 campaign. The organization’s unwillingness to open up its checkbook has led to subpar results on the diamond.

The Athletics are just 58-75 this season, embarking on a third consecutive losing season. Last year, the team lost an MLB-most 112 games. This season’s been an improvement, I guess?

Sportrac has broken down the team’s adjusted payroll, which shows just three players making north of six figures.

Just down the road, Steph Curry plans to make more than the entire team – combined!

Steph Curry’s one-year extension is insane.

The guard had two years remaining on his current four-year deal, which was valued at $215.4 million.

Golden State opted to spend the money to ensure he’ll be there at least one year longer!

Curry is set to enter Year 16 with the Warriors this season, and though the veteran’s age could soon become an issue, he showed he’s still got it this summer.

The sharpshooter balled out at the Paris Olympics, single-handedly lifting the team to wins over Serbia and France. In those two medal contests, Curry totaled a combined 60 points on 20-of-32 shooting. That included racking up 17(!) three-point makes in 26 tries.

Golden State must’ve been watching when Team USA took gold, and it’s rewarded its superstar handsomely.

He’ll hope to live up to the expectation over the next few years.
