Drake has had a tough Summer after taking repeated L’s in his beef with Kendrick Lamar. That beef culminated with Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ diss track aimed at Drake with the music video being released on the 4th of July featuring NUMEROUS cameos from people in the industry including SchoolboyQ, Jay Rock, and countless others joining the chorus of saying Drake is an outsider in the industry and not like them.

Steph Curry threw Drake his first win after the beef when he complained that Team USA was listening to ‘Not Like Us’ too often and he was tired of how much it was getting played. Now he’s offered words of support for Drake in a new interview with GQ.

Speaking with GQ’s Joseph Bien-Kahn for a recent interview about his new sitcom Mr. Throwback with Adam Pally, Steph Curry shared these words of support for Drake:

I ask if he wants to comment on the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef, in which he and Ayesha had been peripherally mentioned. His comms guy blanches, but Curry doesn’t hesitate. “I’m a big Drake guy. I’ve been for a long time,” he says. “I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely. Absolutely.

It has to be acknowledged how wild it is that simply sharing words of support for Drake has become news. That is how far Drake has fallen this Summer. He is the all-time highest-selling digital singles artist in the United States and Steph Curry simply saying “I’m a big Drake guy” is enough to make headlines now because Kendrick Lamar turned him into an outcast in one fell swoop.

For those that haven’t seen the ‘Not Luke Us’ music video from Kendrick Lamar and others yet, it’s worth pausing for a minute to see just how much of the industry in Los Angeles came out against Drake for this:

It remains to be seen what Drake’s next move is after all the ‘Not Like Us’ drama but he will have to come back in a big way in order to regain his cred amongst his peers.
