Stephen A. Smith Stuns The World By Revealing He’s Fine With People Going On The Weed If It Helps Them Cope With Our Current Reality

It’s pretty wild to think how the general public’s view of marijuana has changed over the past decade or so, as it’s only been six years since the first recreational dispensary opened for business in Colorado, which has resulted in almost a dozen states following suit after it became clear legalization wasn’t going to cause Denver to collapse into chaos like so many critics had prophecized.

There are still far too many people out there who think Reefer Madness is an accurate depiction of what’s going to happen if you make weed easily accessible to the masses because those opponents of the drug apparently don’t realize just how many members of the general population can get their hands on some by sending a text message to the number saved as “Applebee’s Delivery” in their phone.

The reality is that the tides have already begun to turn and that anyone who continues to fight this losing battle is going to be on the wrong side of history, and based on recent polling trends, more and more people have begun to see the light when it comes to supporting the end of yet another ineffective prohibition.

However, there are still some high-profile holdouts and I’m not sure if there’s any single one who’s more entertaining than Stephen A. Smith, who has spent a good chunk of his career urging people to stay off the weeeeeeeeeeeed and decrying the supposed evils of the drug.

The ESPN fixture certainly has a point when it comes to criticizing athletes who seem to prioritize weed over their careers but he’s also routinely voiced his opposition to proposals that would stop leagues from testing players and seems vehemently against the idea of legalization in general.

Last year, he attempted to explain his stance when talking with noted marijuana enthusiasts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson but didn’t do much to justify his long-held point of view.

Smith is the kind of guy who would rather exponentially double-down instead of ever admitting his views may have been misguided, and as a result, I had my mind blown on Wednesday when he revealed he’d reconsidered his stance in light of the current state of the world and said he won’t pass judgment on people in a position to do weed in a legal manner to cope with our bleak reality.

We are truly living in wild times.
