Dallas Cowboys general manager Stephen Jones is trying to clean up the mess made by his father and team owner Jerry Jones after the latter insulted superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on Thursday.
Lamb, a first-team All-Pro selection a year ago, removed references to the Cowboys from his social media on Thursday after Jerry Jones said that he wasn’t rushing to sign the star to a new deal.
“I don’t have any urgency to get it done,” Jones said, prompting Lamb to simply tweet “lol.”
Unsurprisingly, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Jerry Jones. Prescott is also in search of a new deal. But that appears farther away than Lamb’s.
“I got urgency for it to happen,” Prescott told reporters.

What might be surprising, however, is Stephen Jones’ view on the matter. Jerry’s son is the director of player personnel for the Cowboys and tried to do damage control after his father’s comments.
“We think the world of CeeDee and we understand where he’s coming from on this, and why he’s not here, but we continue to work very hard on getting this deal done,” Stephen Jones said on The Doomsday Podcast with Ed Werder
That, Jerry, is how you make your superstar players feel heard and appreciated.
Stephen Jones said that it’s important for the team to get Lamb signed long-term.
“We plan on doing it,” he said. “We want all three players here (and) we have the best chance of winning a championship by having those players on our roster.”
Star edge rusher Micah Parsons is also in search of a long-term deal. So both Jones’ have plenty of work to do. And if we were the Cowboys, we’d leave the negotiating to Stephen.
