Two-time WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has accomplished a lot of things over the years. He is a six-time WWE World Champion and a four-time WWE Tag Team Champion. He won King of the Ring in 1996 and holds the record for the most WWE Royal Rumble wins.

Now, he can add another accolade to his resume, and it has nothing to do with professional wrestling. “Stone Cold” recently won his class at the annual Prospector 250, a nearly six-hour off-road race in the Nevada desert.

The event was part of the Valley of the Rogue Racing Association (VORRA) desert racing series. Out of approximately 45 competitors, he placed eighth overall in the off-road racing event. Austin won the Stock Mod Pro Class, driving a Kawasaki Teryx H2, in about 5 hours and 45 minutes.

How did ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin get into off-road racing?

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently revealed how he got into off-road racing in 2023 in an interview with MotorTrend.

Austin said he regularly mentioned his UTVs on one of his podcasts. That led to a former Kawasaki dealer inviting him to a poker run. Then that turned into him becoming a brand ambassador for the company.

“They already had a Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 about three-quarters built, put the finishing touches on it, and I started racing,” Austin said.

When he first started racing, he said he was “green as grass.”

“Most of the guys were driving with two feet,” he said. “Hell, I didn’t find out until my third race that I was supposed to be driving with two feet.”

He also admitted that early in his racing career, he crashed almost immediately. That’s because, like when he was wrestling, he was going full-throttle.

“When we’re calling turns in a race, a 1 is a very sharp turn, and we came to maybe a 1.5 right-hander,” he said. “I looked at it, saw some deep ruts and thought they would guide me right around. I said, ‘Hell, I’m gonna hit it hard.’ I was coming in hot and, boy, it was like getting chop-blocked in the ring. In my first race I’d done flipped my buggy over on the side, and there’s the ground right there next to me. My co-driver flipped his latches, and he tumbles down on me like a pile of garbage.”
