Former Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton stunned the college football world earlier this week when he announced his intent to enter the transfer portal.

Immediately after the announcement, speculation emerged as to where the former freshman All-American would end up, with the usual suspects: Miami, Oregon, and Texas, heading up the discussion.

But since that point, it seems as if the Longhorns have opted to go in a different direction, while Seaton has not visited the Hurricanes or been linked to them beyond initial discussions.

Now, it appears that a team nobody was talking about may well be leading the race to land the potential first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Mississippi State Enters Race To Land Jordan Seaton In Transfer Portal

Shortly after Seaton entered his name into the transfer portal, Florida Gators booster Hal Lewis stated that his representation was asking for $2.5 million to land his signature.

That added fuel to the fire of the idea that Seaton could only possibly land one of a handful of places. But now that may not be the case.

On Thursday night, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Seaton took a visit to Mississippi State, where his former offensive line coach, Phil Loadholt, is now employed.

Loadholt was key in securing Seaton’s signature with Colorado to begin with. But the Bulldogs are far from the top of the heap when it comes to NIL capabilities, which made news of the visit so surprising.

Perhaps he still ends up elsewhere. But further reports suggest that Mississippi State is a major player in Seaton’s recruitment, and they’re one that absolutely nobody saw coming.
