Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell had a rookie season better than anyone could’ve possibly imagined before breaking his fibula

Dell caught 47 passes for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in just 11 games, developing into one of CJ Stroud’s favorite targets.

But the broken leg put a damper on things, and it only got worse from there as Dell was wounded in a nightclub shooting in April. Now we know exactly what happened that led to the incident.

Tank Dell Says He Was In The ‘Wrong Place, Wrong Time’ When He Got Shot

Dell joined Stroud on a recent episode of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast and explained how he ended up getting shot.

“First off, I’m blessed,” he said. “To me, it was just wrong place, wrong time. I went back to see my mom. I wasn’t even planning to go back and go to the little pool party or whatever. But my boys found out I was home, so they hit me up.

“They was like, ‘Pull up to the party.’ They told me there was going to be security, people getting checked at the door, stuff like that, so I’m like, all right, cool. It’s a good vibe, and there were a lot of people that I knew in there, so it was cool. Then that s— just popped off out of nowhere. It just went south out of nowhere.”

Ten people were shot in the incident, and despite trying to escape, Dell was caught in the crossfire.

“I thought I removed myself from the situation, like when you see on the video when I ran across.” he stated. “But I put myself in the middle of two people. It just went crazy.”

Thankfully he’s well on way to a full recovery.

In fact, Dell was back in practice just weeks after the incident.

That’s great news for he, Stroud, and the Texans as they look to make the jump from playoff team to Super Bowl contender.
