Team USA women’s hockey star Megan Keller is speaking out amid the controversy surrounding the men’s team.

Last week, Team USA’s men’s hockey team found themselves at the center of a firestorm when they took a phone call from President Trump in the locker room after winning their gold medal game against Canada.

During the call, Trump joked that he would be forced to invite the women’s team  to the White House alongside the men’s team.

“I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that… I do believe I’d be impeached [if I didn’t],” Trump said.

On Friday, Keller appeared on the Pat McAfee show and was adamant that she had no issues with the men’s team.

“No, we don’t hate the men’s team.”

“It was pretty cool after the men’s team won gold.. All of us sat in the cafeteria until four in the morning chopping it up with our gold medals..It was such a special moment and we were teams of destiny.”

Keller had previously stated that she was disappointed that people were focused on Trump’s call rather than on the two teams winning gold.

“I don’t really have a response. It’s unfortunate all the conversation surrounding it, where it’s gone throughout social media,” she said. “All I can say is I’ve never been more proud to pull on the USA jersey.”

“I think that’s what should be highlighted. As a group, both men’s and women’s, we were able to do something that’s never been done before,” Keller said. “We’re going to be gold medalists together forever. I think I’d just like to shift the focus to that. We’re proud to be an American, all of us.”
