Teddy Bridgewater led Miami Northwestern to a high school football state championship in his first year as head coach. The Bulls dominated their opponents all season and through the playoffs, which led tensions to boil over into a nasty brawl on Saturday night.
Three players were ejected from the game after multiple punches were thrown in response to a monster hit on the sideline that might’ve been late.
Bridgewater, 32, retired from the NFL in 2023 after 10 seasons with Vikings, Jets, Saints, Panthers, Broncos, Dolphins and Lions as the No. 32 overall pick in 2014 out of Louisville. He was hired by his high school alma mater in February and immediately got to work. His profound message at the first spring practice set the tone for the season, which was a great success.
The Bulls went 7-2 during the regular season by a combined score of 325-121 and that includes a 1-0 win as result of forfeit. They breezed through five rounds of the playoffs by a combined score of 262-12, including four shutouts.
Northwestern defeated Raines, out of Jacksonville, 41-0 on Saturday night to win the Class 3A Florida State Championship. Needless to say, the offense — called by Bridgewater — was cooking.

The Vikings could not stop the Bulls and Bridgewater did not take his foot off of the gas. As a result, the defense got frustrated. Tensions boiled over into a minor kerfuffle during the early third quarter.

A massive hit from Northwestern on Raines’ quarterback caused an all-out brawl just a few minutes later. Both benches cleared. Multiple punches were thrown during the fight. Law enforcement was on the field to break it up.

Teddy Bridgewater spoke to his players during a stoppage of play while the officials made a final ruling on ejections. He told them to keep their composure because they knew that this kind of brutal beatdown was going to get a rise out of the Vikings. They prepared for things to get ugly.

“We prepared y’all for this. We knew it was gonna happen.”
Still waiting on final tally for ejections, but there will be several for both teams.

Three players were thrown out of the game. Northwestern did not flinch. It scored its final touchdown of the dominant victory on a quarterback keeper. Leon Strawder closed things out with an homage to Cam Ward’s viral Zombieland touchdown celebration.
