Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater took over as the high school football coach at his alma mater in February. His first regular season at Miami Northwestern will begin next month.
Even though there are still a few games to be played between now and then, he is already escalating the beef with his rival program!
Bridgewater, 31, never got to see his full potential in the National Football League. A severe injury as a third-year player nearly cost him his leg and he never quite returned to form. But that doesn’t mean that his career wasn’t a success. Teddy Two Gloves played in a lot of meaningful games over the course of 10 years, won more than he lost, and carved out a great role as a leader.
The former first round pick often put others before himself, which sets him up to be a fantastic coach.

In parallel with his approach to mentorship, Bridgewater is a leader of young men at Miami Northwestern. He offered a profound message to his players during his first spring practice in May and even got on the field to lead a touchdown drive during the Bulls’ spring game later that month.
There is a lot of buzz around the perennial powerhouse program as result of its big-name hire after a few down years. Its biggest rival is in a similar position.
Carol City went a combined 9-21 over the last three years. It just hired former Avant Garde head coach George Stubbs back in January.
Northwestern and Carol City are separated by only 11 miles. They have serious beef. Their rivalry is one of the most intense in the state of Florida.

He posted a savage hype video on Instagram earlier this week to promote an upcoming event called ‘West Fest,’ which is casually sponsored by Backwoods. The skit took a direct shot at Carol City, a.k.a. the school behind a Popeye’s.
Carol City will host Northwestern on Sept. 6. That crowd is going to be ROCKING and the two teams are going to be fired up for that one— even more so than normal!
