A Tennessee football fan is catching online heat for going dark when it came time to pay a debt to a rival. Florida Gators are going after the Vol for making a bet he wasn’t planning to honor.

This wager came way back in May with the college football world still making their preseason projections. One Florida follower did his best to predict what the Gators‘ win-loss record would be at season’s end.

That guess came out to 9-3 with losses to Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. At the time, most believed the Gators would finish near the bottom of the SEC. Billy Napier was on the hot seat. Some insisted that he’d be fired before season’s end. Not much was looking up in Gainesville!

That prompted one Tennessee football fan to ridicule the win-loss prediction. “I will tattoo Billy Napier’s face on my a– if Florida beats LSU, Ole Miss, and FSU on the road,” read an X response from the FQ Tennessee account.

That message has since been deleted, as has another podcast account associated with the team member who allegedly made the bet. Against the odds, the Gators defeated LSU, Ole Miss, and FSU in consecutive games. They finished the year at 7-5, not too far off the initial prediction.

Unfortunately, the fan has no intention to pay the debt! He reportedly no longer runs the FQ Tennessee account, and the company is distancing itself from the tweet.

This strategy backfired for the last fan to run from a promise! Florida State went 2-10 this season after going 13-1 the year prior. Many have linked that lack of success to a curse put on the program due to the fan’s cowardice.

After watching the Seminoles lose their season opener to Georgia Tech in Ireland, the supporter pledged to “eat dog s— out of a red solo cup” should they fall to 0-2 ahead of a game vs. Boston College. They did, but the bet wasn’t honored. Instead, the fan deleted all of his social media accounts.

Some fear the same will happen to the playoff-bound Vols should the tattoo not be inked. There may be only one way to avoid that karma. If Tennessee falls on Round 1 of the College Football Playoff, we know who to blame!
