Legend Bey pledged to become a member of the Tennessee football recruiting class in the early signing period. The four-star prospect flipped his commitment from Ohio State at the last possible minute.
Rumors swirled following that change of heart. Was the decision his to make?
Bey’s recruitment was a bit of a roller coaster in the final weeks leading up to his signing. He’d committed to the Vols in June after a visit to Knoxville. He then walked that pledge back to join the Buckeyes in November.
Less than a month later, he chose to revert course and again play at Tennessee. His paperwork was sent to the university, but there were questions as to whether or not the signature was his.
Does Legend Bey want to be a Vol?
Most didn’t believe so due to social media activity that immediately followed his signing day ceremony. A message was posted on his X account that placed doubt on his Tennessee loyalty.
Good afternoon, I was just recently logged out of my IG and probably will be logged out of this account as well by my older brother who has access to my account because I won’t sign to the school him and my mother wants

The note suggested that he wanted to attend Ohio State. His family would not let him. There was even a rumor that his mother threatened to no-show on his signing day ceremony if he committed to the Buckeyes.
Fuel was thrown on that fire in the days to follow. A report surfaced claiming that Bey’s mother travelled to Knoxville alone to meet with coaches and pick up his paperwork.
An insinuation was made that she’d forged his signature. Things were messy.
A new update refutes those claims.
Tennessee insider clears the air.
Austin Price of VolQuest says there was no hostage situation. Legend Bey’s signing was business as usual.
He reached out to Tennessee on Signing Day and wanted back in… He’s on the phone when he signs the scholarship papers. Josh Heupel comes in there and meets the media. Shortly after that, I text and he says he’ll do the interview. He calls me. We’re on the phone. I mean, it doesn’t sound like he’s being held hostage.
Price says Josh Heupel was on the phone with Bey when his paperwork was sent in. The high schooler was excited to join the class, which the head coach relayed moments later while addressing the media.
The insider then got an interview with Bey after his commitment. Again, nothing but positivity was conveyed in that conversation.
Bey cited his relationship with the Tennessee staff after the flip. Price says it was Bey that reached out to the Vols about a return to the recruiting class.
What’s the truth? We’re not sure. This latest update leads us to believe Legend Bey was proactive in his push to sign with the Vols. It rejects any Ohio State regret.
Still, there is someone clearly unhappy with the decision. Hopefully, it is not the prospect himself.
