Texas A&M Baseball Fans Rattle Pitcher Into Serving Absolute Meatball With Epic Ball-5 Chant

The lineup scored 45 runs across three games of action. Fans played a role in the offensive outburst.

Texas A&M got in the win column in Game 1 with a 15-6 triumph. The lineup hit .450 on the day to rack up 14 RBIs and three homers.

The next day brought more of the same.

Texas A&M put on a baseball show.

Game 2 was the highest scoring of the weekend. There were 23 Ags to cross home plate in a contest that was called early due to run-rule.

Much of the damage was done in a nine-run first frame. Eight more were scored in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The last three runs to cross the plate in the fifth frame came off the bat of Gavin Grahovac. The first baseman and leadoff hitter smacked a 1-0 pitch deep over the left field wall for his first home run.

Grahovac is a junior that missed the majority of last season with an ACL injury. The year prior, he set a single-season freshman school record with 23 dingers.

He is expected to be a major contributor in 2026. It appears he’s picked up where he left off.

His fifth-inning moonshot travelled 428 feet. It was an absolute no-doubter. He got a pitch to hit, in part, because of the “12th Man” supporting him in the stands.

What is Texas A&M’s “Ball 5” chant?

Texas A&M baseball fans were heard chanting “Ball 5” as the opposing pitcher delivered to home plate. That eventually went to “Ball 6” before Grahovac launched his home run into the left field seats.

The chant is a tradition heard in College Station each and every college baseball season. When an opponent walks a batter on four straight pitches, the crowd gets loud to fluster the pitcher.

“Ball 5” yells are heard raining down from the stands ahead of the next pitch. If there’s another wild delivery, “Ball 6” follows. The count doesn’t end until a strike is thrown.

It can certainly mess with a pitcher’s psyche. Feeling pressure, the ace might try to force the perfect pitch only to miss the zone. Or, he might serve up a meatball as seen in this latest instance.

Traditions like these make college baseball great. We’ll be sure to hear plenty more “Ball 5s” as the Aggies continue their pursuit of an NCAA Tournament appearance and national title.

They’ve gotten off to a great start in that push. After wrapping up a 23-7 victory on Saturday, they completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in Game 3.
