South Carolina wide receiver Nyck Harbor was accosted by a police officer at Texas A&M on Saturday. The Lone Star State trooper went out of his way to make direct contact with a trio of Gamecocks players during a bizarre exchange at the college football game in College Station.

He acted as if he had been wronged.

There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. The officer was sent home.

The Department of Public Safety also opened an investigation.

“Our Office of Inspector General is aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter.”

No further information will be provided at this time.

Nyck Harbor is a track star, literally.

There may not be a bigger cheat code in college football than Nyck Harbor. If you get him the ball in the open field (which does not happen as often as it should), absolutely nobody is going to catch him.

Not only is he 6-foot-5, 240 pounds of pure muscle, he qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials as a sprinter with a blazing fast time of 10.11 seconds in the 100-meter event. He also ran a personal best of 20.20 in the 200. Those are both up there with some of the best sprinters in the world. Harbor is a freak.

Thus, when LaNorris Sellers finally got him the ball in space against Texas A&M on Saturday, he was gone. Harbor went 65 yards in eight seconds to give South Carolina a 23-point lead.

The Gamecocks went into the locker room at halftime up 30-3.

A Texas state trooper decided to cause a problem.

Harbor’s momentum from the touchdown carried him out of the back of the end zone and into the tunnel. He grabbed his right leg as he walked toward the locker room.

A group of his teammates ran down to meet him.

As the South Carolina players turned back toward the sideline, a Texas state trooper started walking up the tunnel in the opposite direction. Not only did the police officer choose not to wait until the players were out of his way, he actively chose to make contact with Nyck Harbor and running back Oscar Adaway. His elbows extended outward as he walked between them.

And then the trooper turned around to accost Harbor with a finger in his face as if it was his fault!

I don’t know why this officer had his panties in a wad but the scoreboard likely had something to do with it. What a bizarre interaction. He should not be allowed back on the sideline.
