The Texas A&M baseball team made its way to the national championship series this past season, ousting rival Texas in the process. Just 24 hours after season’s end, though, and it seems the bragging rights have shifted drastically.

Despite that College World Series appearance, where the Aggies came one win away from a title, head coach Jim Schlossnagle opted to bail for Austin. Now coach-less with a wave of players transferring out of the program, hope for the future in College Station is dwindling.

Not so long ago, it seemed a done deal that Schlossnagle would remain with Texas A&M. He said as much in his postgame presser following that season-ending loss.

Less than 24 hours later, he was gone.

Now, the Aggies look for the “next man up,” as they eye potential replacements.

As is often the case, players have voiced support of assistants on staff. It makes sense given the familiarity with the program, and in many instances, it can help keep a roster or recruiting class from attrition.

A number of Aggies have named their top candidates in Nolan Cain and Michael Earley, both of whom were part of that Texas A&M staff last year.

The Longhorns might have something to say about that…

Texas trolled Aggie baseball players with a petty clip on social media.

Just moments after seeing those Texas A&M baseballers give their opinions on the coaching search, the ‘Horns baseball admin posted a short clip from Jim Schlossnagle’s opening press conference.

Jim Schlossnagle is headed to Austin – and he’s bringing his staff with him!

The coach has no intentions to leave his former employer a single scrap as he guts the program from head to toe.

The drama continues to grow in this heated college baseball rivalry. It should make for incredible TV come next season!
