Referees Overturn Massive Pass Interference Call After Texas Fans Litter Field With Trash

In one of the most bizarre things you’ll ever see in college football, SEC referees overturned a massive pass interference call against the Texas Longhorns against the Georgia Bulldogs after Texas fans littered the field with trash.

After falling behind 23-0, the Longhorns cut the lead to 23-8 on the opening drive of the second half.

After a pair of empty possessions for both teams, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck appeared to throw an interception to Texas defensive back Jadae Barron, who returned the ball inside the Bulldogs’ 10-yard line.

However, a defensive pass interference call wiped out the interception and gave the Dawgs a first down.

Replay showed that Barron did not commit pass interference, and as soon as Longhorns fans saw the replay they began throwing trash on the field.

Referees stopped the game in order to stop fans from throwing things. But while the game was stopped, they also decided to overturn the pass interference call.

However, penalties are not reviewable and they only had time to discuss the call because of the trash on the field.

Two plays later, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, who was benched for Arch Manning earlier in the game, threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jaydon Blue to cut the lead to 23-15.

College football fans were left in absolute shock by the sequence.

College football is a sport full of firsts. But this is one we’ll remember for years to come if the Longhorns come back to win.
