Linden-Kildare High School in Texas recently decided to name head baseball coach Jeremy Hogan as its fourth different head football coach in less than seven days. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Tigers have had four different coaches lead their football program in just one week!

Linden-Kildare is an extremely small school of approximately 200 students in total. It is classified as a 2A school by the University Interscholastic League, which is the second-smallest division in the Lone Star State.

Jason Ferguson was hired as Linden-Kildare’s head football coach and athletic director in the spring. However, he and the school district agreed to part ways after starting the 2024 season at 0-2. The Tigers were outscored 89-6. Ouch.

With Ferguson out, assistant coach J.D. Russell was tapped as his replacement. That only lasted two days. He stepped down less than 48 hours after getting the interim title.

Two coaches down…

Russell’s decision to resign left Linden-Kildare in a sticky spot. It couldn’t play without a coach, so the only other option was to forfeit last weekend’s contest against Hughes Spring.

Hughes Spring did not win a game in 2023 so a win for the Tigers was not completely out of the equation. To prevent his school from forfeit, superintendent Rex Burks stepped into the vacant role.

For those keeping track at home, the total at this point is up to three head coaches.

He took over as head coach for the game but it did not go well. Linden-Kildare lost 54-0 so he decided not to continue in that role.

That leads us to the most recent update. Matt Stepp of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football reported that Hogan will coach the Tigers’ high school football team for the remainder of the season as the interim. He is also the head baseball coach.

Linden-Kildare is set to play its fourth game of the season with its fourth different coach, and all of the changes were made in less than a week! Will this one finally stick?
