Camry Jourden recorded the wildest two-run, inside-the-park home run of the Class 2A Division II high school softball championship in the state of Texas. Well, technically, she scored the only two-run, inside-the-park home run of the Texas high school softball state championship. It was electric!
Unfortunately, the incredible moment has been dulled because of her ruthless celebration.
I, for one, think there should be even more celebrating and taunting in softball — and all sports. I also think the players who do the taunting should be prepared to throw hands if they choose to do so. However, I appear to be in the minority with that opinion. This home run is just the latest example!
Jordan plays for Sundown High School. It enrolls less than 200 students in a town with a total population of approximately 1,500. The Roughettes faced Shiner High School in the state championship. Shiner enrolls less than 300 students in a town with a total population of approximately 2,500. They are separated by more than 450 miles.

Everybody and their mother on both sides showed out to McCombs Field to watch their girls play for a title! It was a packed house at the home of the Longhorns.
Sundown trailed twice during the championship game, including a two-run deficit with three innings to play. The Roughettes rallied back to take a 7-3 lead in the top of the seventh (and final) inning, which leads us to Jourden’s at-bat.
She stepped into the box with a runner on first and two outs to lay down a bunt. Not only did she beat the throw to first, an errant throw from the Comanches allowed her to advance to second — and then third. Shiner’s outfielder finally fielded the ball as Jourden rounded third and headed for home.
Off came the helmet. In came the throw to the plate. Camry Jourden narrowly escaped the tag to complete the exhilarating inside-the-park home run.

Jourden got up from the dirt and screamed directly in the face of the catcher after the wild play.
I see no issue with the antics but there are quite a few old heads on the internet who disagree. They think Jourden’s celebration lacked class and took away from her feat. I think those people are lame and boring.
Camry Jourden scored the most insane run of her entire life on the biggest stage. Sundown essentially secured a state championship with the two insurance runs off of her inside-the-park bunt. She was fired up. She made a sick move to avoid the tag and let the catcher know what’s up. I love it.
Now, with that being said, Jourden needed to be prepared for the catcher to get up and swing. You can’t have it both ways but there is no reason to get up in arms over the celebration. Let the girls play loud!
