More than a dozen baseball players are facing punishments after reports of bullying incidents at Lehman High School in Kyle, Texas. The school district has already suspended 10 players and one staff member.

According to MySA, several players on the Lehman High School baseball team are alleged to have participated in a “potentially serious pattern of bullying.” These concerns were first brought to the attention of campus administration and the campus-based school resource officer by parents.

A press release from the Hays Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) stated that members of Lehman’s varsity and junior varsity baseball teams engaged in on-campus bullying, but it did not specify what it entailed.

The Hays CISD, the school’s administration, and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation prior to issuing the suspensions.

“Because some of the alleged activity may rise beyond a school disciplinary matter and constitute
criminal activity, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office will now serve as the point-agency regarding any media
or public questions during the pending criminal investigation,” the press release stated.

“Bullying of any kind is intolerable,” Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright said. “It goes against everything we are about at Lehman High School and in Hays CISD. Our school district family protects and nurtures each other. We establish high expectations for ourselves – our staff and our students – because that is our character. Let our swift action on this case demonstrate that we will not allow bullying and that those who test that demand will meet with swift and serious consequences.”

This is just the latest troubling incident involving high school sports in Central Texas

MySA reports that this is the third high school sports controversy to happen in Central Texas over the past three years.

In 2024, a highly-rated football recruit from Lake Travis High School was caught up in controversy surrounding an incident that could’ve killed a fellow classmate with a peanut allergy. The alleged bullied player’s parents ended up suing the school district.

Then, in 2025, parents made news when they made claims of bullying, unfair treatment and a toxic culture in the Canyon High School football program in New Braunfels. Multiple players left the team as a result of the allegations.
