On Monday, Tiger Woods announced he’ll be returning to professional golf for the first time in over a year in the hopes of helping his TGL team win a title. That development has naturally led to many people wondering about his status for The Masters, but it appears he may have already informed organizers about his plans for this year’s tournament.
At this point, Tiger Woods doesn’t really have anything left to prove when it comes to golf. The 50-year-old firmly cemented himself as one of the greatest talents of all time during a prime that may never be topped, and no one would blame him for riding into the sunset due to the many setbacks he’s had to grapple with in recent years.
The man who many people view as the G.O.A.T. has clearly not been the same since breaking his leg in a car accident in 2021. He hasn’t competed in a tournament since missing the cut at The British Open in 2024, and while he did play for Jupiter Links Golf Club during the inaugural TGL season in 2025, he underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon last March and also had a disc in his back replaced in November.
However, he’s apparently reached a point where he’s ready to start playing in a competitive setting again, and it sure looks like he’s planning on heading back to The Masters after skipping the major last year.
The official website for The Masters says Tiger Woods will be competing at Augusta for the 27th time in 2026
Tiger has been resigned to a role as a cheerleader for his TGL team this season, but on Monday night, Jupiter Links revealed they’ll have his talents at their disposal on Tuesday after losing the first match of a best-of-three showdown to Los Angeles.

That marks the first time he’ll be participating in a TGL event in 13 months, and it naturally led to plenty of people wondering if it was a sign he’ll be healthy enough to play The Masters, the hallowed event where he’s earned the green jacket on five occasions (although he finished in last place during his most recent appearance in 2024).
Anyone who’s familiar with that tournament knows the folks at Augusta National run a very tight ship, and their reputation for maintaining the standard of excellence the club is known for extends to the official website for The Masters.
As a result, if the page for Tiger Woods has a bio that states he will be “making his 27th Masters start in 2026,” it seems safe to assume they’re privy to some information that he hasn’t shared with the rest of us.

It’s worth noting Tiger has been fairly coy when addressing The Masters plan publicly, as he recently noted, “I’ve been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun.”
Things could obviously change over the course of the next couple of weeks, but all signs point to him giving it a go when it officially gets underway on April 9th.
