Journalists who cover the NFL are constantly on the hunt for a juicy scoop they can share with the masses. A sideline reporter for the Titans got one while flying back with the team following their win over the Browns, but he’s been barred from setting foot on their plane going forward as a result.

There are plenty of perks that come with being a professional athlete, but privacy is certainly not one of them. Players are constantly being monitored by members of the press searching for their next story (and, especially in this day and age, regular people with an undying appetite for drama), and there’s only so much they can do to avoid ending up at the center of one.

Most veteran athletes learn to choose their words carefully and exercise some vigilance when in the vicinity of a reporter just begging for an excuse to fire off a tweet, but they are also able to let their guard down in safe spaces that have historically been protected by a cone of silence.

That includes the flights operated by teams that usually allow media correspondents to tag along for road trips, but the Titans have sidelined a sideline reporter who declined to respect The Code.

Titans sideline reporter Will Boling is no longer allowed on the team plane after sharing a story from a flight

On Sunday, the Titans “improved” to 2-11 on the season with a 31-29 win over the Browns. Will Boling, who serves as the sideline reporter for the team’s radio broadcasts, hitched a ride on Tennessee’s plane for the showdown, and he was along for the ride when they flew back to Nashville on Sunday night.

Cam Ward had a fairly reserved reaction to the victory while correctly noting the team still has a lot to work on before earning the right to celebrate.

However, that sentiment wasn’t necessarily shared by his teammates, as Boling used his radio show on 104.5 The Score to reveal Titans linebacker Arden Key commandeered the plane’s intercom system during the team’s flight to deliver a message of his own saying, “You all enjoy this! Don’t listen to what Cam said! You all enjoy this! It’s hard to win in this league, enjoy it!”

It was far from the spiciest scoop of the season, and Boling caught some heat for violating the off-the-record nature of the team flights before Paul Kuharsky reported he’s no longer welcome on the plane as a result.

According to Awful Announcing, Boling issued an apology for relaying the story on the same radio show where he shared it, and it appears he may need to take care of his own accommodations when the Titans head to San Francisco for their game against the 49ers on Sunday.
