Despite the fact that he’s suffered multiple injuries, is one of the most controversial players in the NFL and wasn’t all that good the last time he was healthy anyway, new Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken is reportedly prepared to give Deshaun Watson a shot at being the team’s starting quarterback. Watson missed the entirety of the 2025 due to injury.
After canning former head coach Kevin Stefanski — who quickly popped up in Atlanta with the Falcons — the Cleveland Browns hired Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken to be their new head coach.
Monken’s most important job, as is the case with all NFL head coaches, is to figure out the team’s quarterback position, and according to reports, Deshaun Watson could have the inside track to the starting job.
Cleveland Browns beat reporter says that new Browns head coach Todd Monken is ‘intrigued’ by Deshaun Watson; people in organization believe he’s the best QB in the building
According to Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot, Monken is “intrigued” by Deshaun Watson and he will be given a chance in the 2026 QB battle. Cabot adds that “once he began practicing in December, some in the organization felt that ‘he was the best quarterback on the field during that stretch.'”

This report will certainly be a blow to Deion and Shedeur Sanders, who apparently believe he is on a mission from God to become a star in the NFL.
