Tom Brady will soon assume a role in the broadcast booth following a lengthy NFL playing career that lasted more than two decades. He previewed that shift to commentating while speaking with Stephen A. Smith on Friday.

In the process, he threw a vicious stray the way of Daniel Jones. The New York City crowd in attendance let him hear it soon thereafter.

Brady is in the Big Apple for Fanatics Fest, a “three-day summer festival supersizing sports, culture and collector fandom.”

Part of that event involved a panel that included the seven-time Super Bowl winner. Droves of fans flooded the venue to hear Brady speak.

A portion of that conversation revolved around his approach to calling games from the booth. He admitted that it will be much different than his outlook as a player.

Tom Brady wants to toe the line of analysis and criticism. He wants to express to his audience why a play may have gone wrong, from a QB perspective, without ripping said player to absolute shreds.

“I can’t [be too critical] on TV. There are parents and there are family members [listening],” he said. “I don’t want to necessarily say it in that way… If I was doing it myself, and let’s say I threw a really bad interception, I would walk to the sidelines and I would say, ‘You are the worst QB in the world. How could you possibly make that throw?’

“I don’t want to be so critical [in the booth]. In some ways, I don’t necessarily know what the problem was on that play. Let’s say, Daniel Jones throws an interception…”

Boos rained down from the crowd following the hypothetical scenario.

“I wasn’t even being critical of Daniel Jones!” Brady responded. “Well, maybe I was a little bit.”

Jones’s time in New York has been up and down to this point. The former first-round selection landed a major payday after leading the Giants to the playoffs in 2022. He then started the season 1-5 before being injured last year.

Over his five-year professional tenure, Jones is 22-36-1 as a starter.

The Giants are hoping he returns to his ’22 form on the field in the coming season, which kicks off in September against the Vikings.

If not, we might hear a little more of Tom Brady’s criticism from the broadcast booth!
