It is going to take a full season (or more) for a lot of NFL fans to adjust to the league without Tom Brady who recently announced his retirement after the Buccaneers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions. As a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, the Twitter algorithm has made it so that every time I open that app I see rumors from Bucs fans that Tom Brady hasn’t ‘fully closed the door’ and a return is possible.
Nope. Tom’s not coming back. He’s living his best life. And he made that abundantly clear on the season finale of his Let’s Go! podcast.
The language Tom Brady used to describe how happy he already is in retirement is enough to make it abundantly clear he isn’t coming back but then Tom talks about crushing desserts. Anyone who has followed Brady’s career knows that Tom isn’t a man who cheats on his diet. The fact that he’s kicking back and devouring pies is the clearest indicator that he’s done with playing in the NFL forever, it also makes Tom Brady more relatable than ever.
Tom Brady Fans React To His Latest Quote About Retirement
Brady was asked by his Let’s Go! co-host Jim Gray and how Gray framed the question is pretty important here, he ask Tom “how are you gonna go about your life? And if somebody sees you out working out because you’re staying in shape that’s going to lead to all kinds of rumors. So what will you be doing next with yourself? And will you stay in shape or are you gonna start running over to eat a few key lime pies?” Here’s what Tom had to say:
“You know I love those key lime pies, too. That’s my dessert of choice. So there’ll definitely be a few more of those and I’m super content and happy with how I feel in my decision. All you can do is take it day by day, nothing’s promised for us. I’m gonna do things I really enjoy and spend time with people that I really enjoy spending time with. So the future is bright.
I look forward to the opportunities that are ahead and I look forward to speaking with everyone again next year. So I’ve had a great time doing the show. We’ll keep it going and thank you to everyone for their amazing support, thanks for another great NFL football season. And I hope it just keeps getting better and better from here.”
I was eating Key Lim Pie last night so in my mind, I’m basically an elite athlete now just like Tom Brady. The logic works out in my head.
Also, Tom Brady recently sparked a lot of chatter with his “never say never” last week. It had fans convinced he was coming back! ‘Super content and happy’ with his decision to retire. Sure, ‘never say never’ because anything could happen or whatever, but Tom’s retired and he’s staying retired.
Lots of NFL and Brady fans have thoughts on Tom’s latest comments about retirement…

I feel like watching that super bowl he has to feel like he can win again. One really flat half is the reason we aren’t back to back super bowl champs right now. I think when he retired he didn’t realized the rams were going to win everything. Healthy, the Bucs are top notch.

When Brady announced retirement, all I wanted was for Bucs not to end up in the Brett Favre Zone. Lo and behold , here we are, in the god damn Brett Favre Zone https://t.co/HcN8bsgf17

It is unprecedented to see the best quarterback in the league retire and not because of age or injury. Brady couldn’t devote himself to the level of commitment required to maintain his standard of excellence so he went out on top and that’s going to be hard for a lot of NFL fans to process.
