Superstar rapper Toosii was supposed to suit up as a member of the Syracuse Orange football team despite not having played for over a decade. Now, it appears that won’t be happening, and the platinum recording artists says Syracuse head coach Fran Brown is a “bozo” for the way he’s handled the entire situation.
Toosii, whose real name is Nau’jour Grainger, spent last summer working out at the North Carolina State football facilities, ultimately deciding he wanted to give college football a try at 25 years old.
The 5-foot-8, 150-pound wide receiver took multiple visits before committing to Brown and the Orange on Dec. 1, 2025. Grainger even had his own locker setup.
He was fully established as a member of the team.
Now, however, he’s gone.
Brown said that the plan was to “allow him to be a walk-on, but I don’t know if we can do that anymore because we’ve got more talent coming in.”
That’s not how Toosii saw it.
Toosii Says ‘Bozo’ Fran Brown Lied About Syracuse Departure
Brown felt that he was giving the rapper an opportunity to live out his dream of playing football. But Toosii took to TikTok to deliver his side of the story, which sounds far different.
“No coach, that ain’t what happened,” he said in the video. “I told you I wasn’t coming there no more, and you feel like you wanted to break the news first before I told people what school I was going to. (Brown) is a bozo for that.”
Toosi also said that he never discussed walking on, and that Brown said that the program would put him on scholarship.
“That was never the conversation,” Toosii said. “The conversation was, ‘Y’all paying for my school.’ That’s what it was. If you lie, I’ve got receipts.”
Will he end up at another school? Or is this the end of the rapper’s extremely short college football career?
Either way, it appears Fran Brown has some explaining to do.
