One of the biggest knocks on Travis Hunter Jr. is his size and strength. Colorado’s two-way superstar has all of the on-field skills to make him one of the best players in college football but his frame is perhaps the only question mark.

The rising junior stands 6-foot-1, 185 pounds.

With the NFL Draft less than one full year away, Hunter is working to get bigger and stronger. Apparently, all he needs to do is take off his glasses. It’s a real-life Clark Kent situation!

Assistant strength and conditioning coach Brandon Reyes got the Buffaloes in the weight room for a max lift earlier this week. Multiple players PR’ed in the hang clean. Hunter was not one of them… at first.

According to Reyes, the (projected) future top-10 pick put up 275 during the spring practice period just a few months ago. 300 was too much for him. He couldn’t get it up.

That was also true during his most recent attempt while wearing glasses. Hunter could not get 300 and his legs gave out on him.

And then he took the glasses off!

Kent turned into Superman. 300 was no longer an issue. He put up a personal best while his teammates went absolutely bonkers.

There are a lot of reasons to hate on Colorado football. Vibes are not one of them. Certainly not Hunter’s.

The 21-year-old defensive back and wide receiver seems like an awesome teammate and a lot of fun to have around. If he can perform on the field while continuing to get stronger in the weight room, Travis Hunter Jr. is going to be a real problem for opposing offenses and defenses! The stronger he gets, the more that will be true. To jump 25 pounds on the hang clean in less than three full months is a great start.
